AN Abersoch caravan site has been judged the best in Wales.
The Willows (Yr Helyg) has won the title of “Best Place to Stay in Wales” [best campsite in Wales] in the camping and caravan category at the 2010 Welsh National Tourism Awards.
The five-star site on the Llyn peninsula, was recognised for offering “the very best quality in all aspects of the visitor experience”.
Miles James, who owns The Willows along with his wife Anna, expressed his delight that their hard work and determination had paid off.
“It is a great honour to receive the award. Over the last five years we have put our heart and soul into the business,” he said
“We started with an empty field and turned it into a five star camping site. We are truly thrilled.”
The awards ceremony was held at the Vale Resort, Cardiff, showcasing the very best that Welsh tourism has to offer.
Heritage Minister of Wales, Alun Ffred Jones praised the hard work of the Welsh businesses;
"The dedication that these businesses have shown to quality and redeveloping their product to meet with consumers’ needs in a difficult economic climate is to be applauded,” he said.
“All the companies who entered the awards can be proud of the fine job they are doing to promote Welsh tourism inWales."
The Willows, set in 10 acres in Mynytho, has been developed to offer five-star luxury surroundings for families and couples. The caravan and camping site is open to visitors from mid MarchWelsh camping at its best in North Wales
