Visitors Reviews/Letters
Hi Anna & Miles,
Just a quick note to say what a fantastic site you have, and thank
you for a great 4 days camping we enjoyed as a family. All your facilities
were very clean and tidy and you seem to have thought of everything
a camper could need, even down to providing BBQ bricks. And would
also like to say how we found Anna & Miles so helpful with places to
visit and really felt they were there for you night and day if we needed
them. You have done a fantastic job and we will definately visit you again
in the future and would recommend your site to anyone, thanks Anna &
Miles.
All the best,
Hayley Hamblett & Family

Dear Anna and
Miles,
I just wanted to
send you a quick email to thank you for a lovely stay at your
campsite. Claire and I felt you provided an absolutely first
class location for our first venture into the world of camping. The
amenities were clean, well presented, and you seem to have thought of
everything a camper could possibly need when staying with you. The
summer house was a nice touch, and has been an inspiration for things we
wish to do on future stays to the area. Our only complaint was that
our holiday there simply wasn't long enough!
Congratulations
also on achieving your fourth star for your campsite rating, it is richly
deserved.
We hope to make a
return to The Willows at some point in the future, and wish you
well
Kind
Regards
Paul Wilson and
Claire Woods.

Stunning location with fantastic views out over the sea and to the
mountains. Anna and Miles couldn’t be more convivial hosts and the
location of the site coupled with the quiet relaxed atmosphere makes for
an ideal “get away from it all” kind of a place for a holiday or short
break. The facilities are well appointed, exceptionally clean and well
maintained. The pitches are level and spacious. There is a local shop
within five minutes walk which is well stocked and Abersoch is less than
ten minutes down the road (in the car). Yr Helyg is ideally placed to
explore the local area and its locations and, yes, the beaches really are
as good as they look in the photos on the web site! The only
disappointment was that we had to come home, but we’ll definitely be back.
Thoroughly recommended.

We booked this site as a last minute panic and was a little
unsure of what to expect (had exhausted all other options). Any doubts
that we had were removed within an hour of setting up camp. The site is
beautifully maintained, the staff are most welcoming and facilities
spotless. There is a small charge of 20p for the showers but nothing
to complain about (40p is more than enough) and never had to queue -
certainly a lot cheaper and cleaner than previous experiences. We had
possibly the best pitch on the site and woke up to breathtaking views each
morning. We enjoyed the experience so much that we are currently booking
our next holiday and will always check availability at The Willows before
any other site in the area. If you are looking at camping in the area
you will not be disappointed.

This was our fist real camping
expedition and a high standard was set! We booked for the Bank
Holiday and stayed for two nights, with our early departure
down to the wet weather and a leaky tent! The booking was
based on their website only, and we were not disappointed.
The camp site was extremely well planned out, each plot
extremely spacious, all the facilities were well equipped,
clean, tidy, and in working order, and the owners were very
friendly and welcoming. The site was very secure and we had no
concerns about leaving our gear while we went exploring,
largely due to the family and couple atmosphere. The view
from the site is breathtaking over Abersoch and the
surrounding area and there was enough amenities to be more
than comfortable without losing the 'roughing it' aspect that
is part of the whole camping experience. We are already in
discussions with siblings to go again with the nieces and
nephews next time - and a sturdier tent! - Highly recommended.

Dear Miles and
Anna
Just a quick
email to thank you for letting us stay on your site at such
short notice. As you know, this was our first caravanning
experience and we think we will find it very hard, when
travelling, to find a site that beats yours. You definitely
have spoilt us! Everything was superb. We hope to come back
before October, will book early this time.
Regards
Roger and

What can I say,
but what a wonderful welcoming experience. We arrived for one
night on a Bank Holiday weekend not really knowing what to
expect. We found the site extremely well planned out (although
the loose stones made it a little difficult for our
motorcycles and noisy at night when walking to the toilet
block), but the owners were so friendly and welcoming. It was
also nice that they came around the following morning to say
hello to everyone and have a friendly chat. We only stayed for one night on this
occasion, but are sure to be going back in the near future to
enjoy a little longer. The facilities were clean and well
equipped - just ensure you have some change for hot water. It
was a lovely family site, which we as a family hope to return
to again soon.

Despite the rain we
thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Willows. We were made to
feel very welcome from the outset. The electrical entry gate
is a definite bonus and added peace of mind. The site was
litter free and the toilet blocks were kept clean (we never
had to queue for a shower!). Clearly, every effort is made to
ensure those staying on-site have a good holiday. The owners
were approachable without being intrusive and very
knowledgable about the local area. You get the impression they
have 'done' camping and therefore know what campers need and
have made an effort to provide it.
The views of the bay
are spectacular. We found there was little need to take the
car as there are plenty of walks from the site. We make a
point of never returning to the same site, however, Yr Helyg
has forced us to re think this policy!

This is an excellent site with
absolutely superb views. Each pitch has been carefully
measured with indicator markings which means you get just the
right space. The site is quiet and peaceful and the
proprietors clearly make this one of their priorities for
their guests. They will go out of their way to ensure that
your stay is the best it can be with all sorts of information
around the site about the surrounding area and things to do
and see as well as making the site as comfortable as
possible. The showers and toilet
block were always exceptionally
clean and we never
queued once! The surrounding area is
easily accessible and is fabulous - who
needs to go abroad when you have beaches, countryside
and views like
this! An excellent holiday - thank
you Anna and Miles. |

The Willows is a
beautiful campsite in an idyllic setting, with stunning views of the
coastline, great facilities and the friendliest proprietors you
could wish for! Anna and Miles were amazing and were so generous
with all the help they gave us during our stay. They helped us in
every way they could; from lending us their spare tent after we
discovered half of ours had been left at home, and then helping us
to put it up in the dark, to giving us advice as to where to eat out
etc. It was the wettest weather we'd ever experienced in
Abersoch, but despite this, we were greeted every day with smiles
and happy faces! We had a beautiful private plot with views straight
out to sea, and the electric barrier system at the site entrance was
a safety bonus that we noticed many other sites didn't have. For us,
the setting was ideal.down a quiet country lane, right in-between
Abersoch and Llanbedrog, and only a few minuites drive to either.
There is also a
lovely pub, "The Ship Inn" within walking distance from the site,
which serves great food. We enjoyed our stay at The Willows so much.
We we will definitely be back again soon. |

Stayed here of a long weekend in our tent. The
campsite was well laid out, with good sized pitches and great views
on a clear day. The owners were nice enough and very
approachable. The site was nice and quiet, which is what we
wanted and generally clean and tidy. |

Having
stayed at the Willows on several occasions during 2006/2007 I
thought it was about time I wrote a review. If you want a site that
is quiet, clean and ideally situated within easy reach of local
amenities etc then The Willows is just the one. Facilities on site
toilets, showers and wash room are kept clean and in good order,
20p's are needed for your hot water, which is nothing really, all
part of the camping experience. There is plenty of information
available on site of things to do whatever the weather. The pitches
are well spaced with all tents pitched around the outer edges so
your not crammed in like sardines, the same is for tourers.this
layout helps towards the atmosphere there. Access to site is via an
electric barrier and gates are locked after 11pm. There is a local
shop/post office / off licence just literally a 5 min walk around
the corner, 5 min drive takes you down lane to the Ship Inn, food
here is reasonably priced and nice too! A 5 min drive into Abersoch
and you have a selection of shops, bistro's / restaurants, and bars,
oh not forgetting the beach, which is lovely. To sum it up, this
site is ideal if you want easy access to surrounding area's, piece
and quiet after a hectic day out n about, friendly atmosphere and
fantastic views over the penninsular. I wouldnt hesitate going
back.in my tourer next time.

I had an absolutely
fabulous time at this clean and very well equipped site. The
owners were very friendly and hospitable and provided
excellent guidance on all local areas. The toilets and showers
were very clean and there were plenty of facilities available. The
site was kept well mowed and was a wonderful quiet place to spend
the evenings. If you wanted to go out there are two very good pubs
serving excellent food within a mile of the site. The local area
is delightful, fantastic views, which helps in planning the days
activities. You can see the fantastic beaches that surround the
site. Great walks. I would definitely recommend this site to
anyone who wants a lovely clean site with great facilities and
friendly owners. |

We stayed at the Willows in our tent on about 7 weekends
during 2006, and are returning for a number of weekends in 2007.
The campsite is a nice contrast to some of the others in the
area, as it has a feeling of much more open space and therefore
privacy. There are lots of sites where you feel like the owners just
pack campers in until you're practically on top of each other, but
there is a limited number of pitches at the Willows so you don't get
that problem. In fact, the pitches are just around the outside of
the fields so even when it's full, there is still plenty of
space.
Facilities are always spotlessly clean and
availability is fine for the number of campers.
One of the
other great features of this site is that the grounds are really
well looked after and landscaped, so you are always on freshly mown
plots with no uncomfortable lumps and bumps!
Miles and Anna
the owners are extremely helpful to newcomers and regulars alike,
and now they are helped by baby Megan! They come out around the site
several times a day so it's nice to be able to be confident that
there is someone there if something went wrong.
The site now
has a card operated barrier so is very secure. It also tends to be
quite quiet being mainly couples and families, so being kept awake
at night is not a problem.
It's just a 10 minute drive to
Abersoch and the local beaches and it's possible to walk to the
local pub in Llanbedrog, The Ship.
All in all, we will keep
going back to the Willows and I have recommended it to friends and
would do so again. |

Stayed her 1st May Bank Holiday weekend for 4 days. It was
extremely clean and the owners extremely nice. Our pitch was
extremely flat and well sheltered. The views breathtaking! In the
tent fields the pitches are set in a circle on the outside of the
field and they are huge! They do not cram you all in one place! A
little more expensive then other places but well worth it. Quiet,
relaxing and roomy! A wonderful time was had by all. Even rain on
the last day did not put us off as the facilities, though a little
dated was clean and always available. Oh, and you do have to pay 20p
for hot water for showers and dish washing but we were not bothered.
We hope to go back next May Bank Holiday. |

We stayed
at Yr Helyg during August and had an absolutely wonderful time. On
our arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome by Anna & Miles
the owners. We were shown out pitch, given a clear guide to the site
amenities and then were left to unwind and have a cup of tea before
having to settle our bill.
The site was immaculate. The views
breath taking. The grass and flower beds are all kept to an
impeccable standard. The pitches are level with a 16 amp hook up and
TV point, which we have not come across before. In particular we
liked the fact that there was a separate fridge/freezer to store our
shopping goods in - free of charge. Even a television in the
summerhouse.
The toilet blocks were kept clean to a very high
standard. These are equipped with plenty of showers/wc sockets for
hairdryers, and not once did we have to queue for the use of
anything - even though we were staying in the middle of
August.
Showers were 20p operated, 60p was ample for a good
shower. We have in the past had to pay a pound plus on some
sites.
Even though we had a torrential downpour mid holiday
our pitch remained perfectly dry throughout the week.
We
recommend and will definitely be going again.
Anna was
expecting a baby any day when we had to leave, we hope on our return
to see the baby! |

Spent a couple of nights here, lovely site, loos and showers
very clean. Really quiet and away from it all, amazing views. The
couple who own the site are very helpful, and after a really windy
wild night they came round to check if everyone was ok, which has
never happened at any other site to us. The nearest pub The Ship
does great food. There are plenty of great beaches just a drive
away. |

Just arrived back from a lovely weekend staying at The
Willows. The site is beautifully kept, lawns freshly mowed and
all very flat. The toilets and showers were spotlessly clean
and the owners couldn't have been more helpful, even lending us
their OS map and showing us some good tourist spots to
visit. The local pub, The Ship, is just down the road and
served good home cooked food in big portions at very reasonable
prices. Will definitely be visiting again. |

Just
arrived back from our month at Yr Helig. We found Miles and Anna(new
owners) to be very helpful, friendly and they were very informative
about the local area. The site is well presented beautifully
landscaped, maintained and the ground level.
The facilities
are spotless and the radio playng in the toilet/shower block a
bonus. If you timed it right you keep up with world events and even
Glastonbury festival, ha-ha.
Yr Helig is a quiet peaceful
site and can be recommended for a tranquil stay but close to a
variety of activities.
We won't hesite to return, highly
recommended. All we need now is a Yr Helig t-shirt! |

Very
friendly staff who couldn't do enough to make our stay any better.
Clean site with wonderful sea views.
Site was queit in terms
of tents during our stay, so we were able to use the showers/toilets
provided for the caravans which were cleaned regularly and well
equiped; plug point for hairdryer, handsoap, loo roll, very decent
standard. Similar wc facilities due soon for campers.
Beach
is only short drive away and lovely family pub is situated 10
minutes walk down hill, with beer garden for kids. Will definietely
come back. |

2005 Stayed here over the Whit weekend in our Diablo 600 with
wife and two kids. We initially chose this site because the new
owners, Anna and Miles, were the only ones who were friendly or
helpful during calls to a dozen sites in the area. Glad to say this
attitude prevailed throughout our five night stay.
The
camping pitches are perfectly flat and we had ample room for the
slightly large Diablo. Tents are only pitched around the perimeters
of the two fields so even when full there would be loads of open
space. The facilities are a bit old but were kept clean during a
busy period, and I believe a brand new block is on the way soon. In
conclusion:
Pro's : Good customer service, flat,
spacious, clean, great views, decent local shop. Con's :
erm.....not keen on Radio2 being played in the showers, more of a
Radio1 man personally. Will definitely go again.
